...jumpers can be fun and fatal...

I think everyone knows I love Rihanna . So naturally my next post would be about her recent fashion choice of the jumper. Rihanna’s STAR POWER can make anything a trend. However, recently she was captured wearing a jumper that was so UNofficial. I think jumpers are an excellent addition to any wardrobe because of the flexibility in which they can be worn. However, I dare to think of all the people who will fall short with this look, so I have put together several options to consider this season.

If you choose a black jumper you can’t go wrong. This color easily transitions from day to night with the simple switch of heels and accessories. It is also a good idea to have a jumpsuit that reminds you of summer days at the beach, preferably in denim. A jumpsuit that encompasses patterns and prints would also be a good look for the winter. Pair them with some knee high socks and a boyfriend blazer or cardigan and you’ll take your style to the next level. Jumpers don’t have to make sense. They can have plunging necklines or open backs, made of silk or velour, asymmetrical cuts or a simple frame. Whatever jumper you choose be sure to consider the cut, material, and style in which it is made. Remember, own up to your style-its officially not yours.

Officially Not Yours???

I decided to create this blog many months ago. However, I couldn’t quite conclude a functional name for its content, therefore it was never established. However, my recent trip to New York inspired me to use the name I’d been calling myself for several months now, Kitty Officially Not Yours. So for my first post, it is only fitting to use my Big Apple experience to discuss my new fashion movement.

I went to see my alma mater compete in the winter tournament called the Big Apple Classic. Since this was officially my first trip to NY, I wanted to be prepared for the 20 degree weather. Therefore, I layered every piece of clothing I could find in an attempt to stay warm. However, to my amazement, the shuttle from the hotel to the station eliminated my greatest exposure to cold weather for the entire trip. I could have easily worn a dress with some leggings. However, I let the season dictate what to wear.

That is why I created this blog. Fashion can be whatever you want it to be and in every season. Climate does not have to be the deciding factor in determining what you wear but rather an influence to your ultimate decision. We all know that designers create winter, spring, summer, and fall lines and each season we anxiously wait to see those collections. However, we are not our seasons. So, I say wear what you want in whatever way you feel most comfortable. Use those trends as a way to transition into the true you. If you want to wear a shift dress the entire winter, do it. Or maybe you want to rock some biker boots the entire summer, I’m with you.

Just remember, that fashion trends are dictated by the seasons, while your style remains the same. Own up to your style, don't get lost in the transition. Tell the season it’s Officially Not Yours.
